BOTOX
Botox is a popular neuromodulator that prevents and reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. Unlike static wrinkles, which result from volume loss, dynamic lines develop from repetitive movements. Many people call dynamic wrinkles “expression lines” because they primarily form in areas of facial movement, including around the eyes and forehead.

How does Botox work?
Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the nerves that control muscle movement. Without frequent muscle contractions, the skin atop can’t crease. For example, if your provider at Vanity Arts injects Botox into the glabellar lines between the eyebrows, the skin can’t wrinkle. In this way, Botox treats and prevents wrinkles. It allows existing lines to soften and stops new wrinkles from forming in the treatment area.

Which wrinkles can Botox treat?

Botox can treat any type of dynamic wrinkle, including:

  • Crow’s feet

  • Forehead lines

  • Glabellar lines

  • Chin dimples

  • Neck bands

  • Sagging brows

  • Bunny lines at the top of the nose

While expression lines tend to form in the top one-third portion of the face, Botox can also treat marionette lines around the mouth.

What can I expect from Botox injections?

Botox injections only take a few minutes. After mapping out your treatment plan to address your aesthetic concerns, your provider at Vanity Arts  applies a numbing anesthetic to your skin and injects the medication into the predetermined areas.

Mild redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site are common symptoms with Botox, but these minor side effects should subside within hours. Most patients begin seeing results from Botox within seven days of injection. However, peak results typically develop within two weeks of treatment.

How long do Botox results last?

Results from Botox can last between three and six months. The results wear off gradually, but touch-up injections can help you maintain your results and prevent new wrinkles from forming. Combining your treatments with other skin-revitalization techniques, such as microneedling, can also extend the lifespan of your results.

For a comprehensive approach to wrinkle reduction, your provider at Vanity Arts may recommend dermal fillers to restore volume for static wrinkles, such as deep nasolabial folds and hollow cheeks.
